Some actors are born to play certain types of roles. Christopher Lee is a fine example, a towering figure of a man with a voice that can freeze the blood in your veins and a laugh that can thaw it again.
The actor I’m talking about however is Helena Bonham carter. She plays the darker, gothic roles with a dash of humour and a pinch of insanity that I find very compelling.
Contrary to what some women seem to think, the gothic look does not come from the number of piercings or tattoos you have or any number of pairs of stripy stockings – it comes from the inside.
Well long-time readers will know I like all things truly gothic so it will come as no surprise to you that I love Helena Bonham Carter. She makes me smile with every tilt of her head, every sardonic and acidic delivery of a line she create a macabre masterpiece.
I too have always loved HBC with an abiding passion.
