{"id":10596,"date":"2010-12-02T01:55:37","date_gmt":"2010-12-02T01:55:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/alexsuze.com\/?p=10596"},"modified":"2010-12-01T23:24:22","modified_gmt":"2010-12-01T23:24:22","slug":"hard-black-monoliths","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alexsuze.com\/?p=10596","title":{"rendered":"Hard Black Monoliths"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft\" style=\"margin: 5px;\" title=\"AIDS Monolith\" src=\"\/images\/aids-monolith.jpg\" alt=\"AIDS Monolith\" width=\"319\" height=\"250\" \/>World Aids Day<\/p>\n<p>I first became aware of AIDS back in the 80\u2019s when the UK\u2019s population were jolted by an educational campaign to promote safe sex which involved a series of hard hitting public information slots on television. \u00a0They features amongst other things stark black monoliths that were carved like gravestones. The these ads I haven\u2019t seen since, it seems that we have to have our educational information dumbed down these days, alluding to facts rather than hitting you between the eyes.<\/p>\n<p>Now 30 years later I can\u2019t believe that AIDS is still endemic, that we haven\u2019t found a cure for it or obliterated it from this planet for good.\u00a0 It saddens me that despite the efforts of governments to educate we are still in the grip of this deadly disease, that people are still suffering and dying because of something which is preventable with the right education.<\/p>\n<p>Here are some statistics taken from World Aids Day site <a href=\"http:\/\/www.worldaidsday.org\/\">http:\/\/www.worldaidsday.org<\/a>, it\u2019s frightening.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOver 90,000 people are living with HIV in the UK and new infections continue every year.
