{"id":15746,"date":"2011-09-24T16:55:15","date_gmt":"2011-09-24T16:55:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/alexsuze.com\/?p=15746"},"modified":"2011-09-24T16:49:45","modified_gmt":"2011-09-24T16:49:45","slug":"alex-playing-with-the-birds","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alexsuze.com\/?p=15746","title":{"rendered":"Alex Playing With The Birds"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" style=\"margin: 5px; float: left;\" title=\"Lanner Falcon\" src=\"\/images\/lanner-falcon.jpg\" alt=\"Lanner Falcon\" width=\"300\" height=\"295\" \/>Ever since watching the gritty northern film Kes starring the wonderful Brian Glover both Alex and I have had a keen interest in raptors.<\/p>\n<p>If you haven\u2019t seen the film it\u2019s about a young lad growing up in Barnsley in a troubled family who would now be classed as deprived, who\u2019s one escape is caring for kestrel he found.\u00a0 His exploration in to falconry reveals that despite not being academic of sporty he does have a talent for working with his bird Kes.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s a very moving film and although showing it\u2019s age now has some priceless vignettes especially with Brian Glover as the physical education teacher.\u00a0 If you haven\u2019t seen the film you should be able to find it in your local DVD store in the bargain bin and it would certainly be one worth retrieving.<\/p>\n<p>So when Alex\u2019s birthday came up earlier in the year I decided it would be a good idea to look in to giving him a falconry day and that\u2019s exactly what I did.<\/p>\n<p>And today many months down the line we visited the falconry centre and had the most wonderful time with some really gorgeous birds.\u00a0 We both came away wanting to have our own birds.\u00a0 My favourite was the Lanner Falcon, it has beautifully marked feathers and bright yellow legs as you can see from the image I took above.<\/p>\n<p>If I had the money falconry would certainly be at the top of my list as a hobby although I\u2019m not sure what my cat would make of it.\u00a0LOL<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ever since watching the gritty northern film Kes starring the wonderful Brian Glover both Alex and I have had a keen interest in raptors.
