I told you about my recent issues with the gym and their staff\u2019s attitude to my complaints regarding the temperature being too high.\u00a0 Well, I did a little bit of asking around, well I asked a friend who works for the Health & Safety Executive to look in to temperature requirements in gyms.<\/p>\n
She sent me a link to an advisory site which seemed to confirm the response to my latest complaint which was that they have to have the temp set at a minimum of 19 degrees to avoid strains and pulls.<\/p>\n
But when I read on it appears that these are the regulations in the US, so I\u2019m not sure if the same guidelines are used here.\u00a0 I\u2019ve had a look around and can\u2019t find any UK guidelines so I need to perhaps do as she suggested and try the Environmental Health.<\/p>\n
So that one\u2019s still bubbling under, I\u2019ll let you know what happens.<\/p>\n
Just as I thought it couldn\u2019t get any hotter\u2026I was greeted by a wall of humidity and heat as entered this morning.\u00a0 I got a sweat on just walking up the stairs to use the equipment.<\/p>\n
There is no doubt that I didn\u2019t pull any muscles whilst I was there but I almost passed out with the heat as the air con wasn\u2019t even on in the area I workout in.\u00a0 And there was a delicious smell of sweaty body parts hanging around.\u00a0 Nice!<\/p>\n
So I was getting on with my routine doing my planking and at about 20 seconds in I was asked by the woman on the mat to the side of me \u201cAre you using all those weights?\u201d\u00a0 I couldn\u2019t believe it and I certainly didn\u2019t have the energy to waste verbally responding to her so I nodded my reply.<\/p>\n
I couldn\u2019t believe that she asked me if I was using the weights, why would I have them next to me if I wasn\u2019t?\u00a0 Doh!\u00a0 And also, \u00a0to ask as I\u2019m sweating profusely and obviously using all my energy to hold my position.<\/p>\n
Needless to say she didn\u2019t actually break a sweat herself, in fact she kept her hoodie on for the duration of her mat exercise.<\/p>\n
