The fabulous series Ashes To Ashes is about to make a come back on BBC1 on Monday 20th of April. We will see the return of all our favourite characters, mine are obviously Gene Hunt and in second place Ray. Now who couldn’t love Ray. 🙂

If you haven’t seen both Life On Mars (first two series) and Ashes To Ashes I suggest you catch up with them on boxed set DVD.

That is exactly what we were doing last night, having a retro evening in the 80’s watching the first series of Ashes To Ashes. We thought we would remind ourselves of the story line in preparation for the series return.

Whilst watching I found myself wondering why so many women, me included, found Gene so HOT! Yes, I’ve been out with some tough guys in my past but they ended up treating me like shit, not exactly what I was looking for.

It occurred to me that what you need is the right blend of good and bad. He can be tough and assertive, protective if you like. We all like to feel that our man can keep us safe and protect us from the nasty world. But we also appreciate a guy who can make us feel wanted and loved.

This is where the balance comes in, too much of both can upset the blend but when you get it just right like the persona of Gene then women swoon.
