Fallen Angels

Only a few weeks ago Susan Boyle was the next great thing to come out of “Britain’s Got Talent” the TV show that gives people without talent the chance to compete with people who do have talent for the chance to perform in front of the Queen at the Royal Variety Performance.

Since she qualified from her heat, reports that the Scottish singer has been acting strangely have become more frequent. After coming second in the final at the weekend she’s now booked into The Priory. That may be the fastest rise from obscurity, quick stop at stardom and check in to that auspicious clinic that has ever been recorded.

I hope she recovers, but you do have to ask if she’s really suited to a life in the limelight.

On the other hand another star who has made headlines today is the Israeli TV personality Dudu Topaz. He has allegedly used hired muscle to beat up those who refused to commission new shows for him after his TV series was cancelled five years ago.

If it’s true it could indicate a desperation and separation from reality that seems to haunt some people in the public eye.
