Chick Flicking

As I guy I am particularly badly qualified to judge chick flicks. That’s not going to stop me commenting on one that’s doing the rounds at the moment.

The “Confessions of a Shopaholic” film looks particularly dire and fills me with revulsion whenever I see the trailer. Would any of you ladies out there fill me in on why you would want to go and watch something like this. Or do you like me feel that it’s demeaning to women and seems (from the trailer) to cast them as dim-witted, shallow and lacking in any motivation that doesn’t revolve around shoes?

Personally if I were a woman I can only imagine being insulted when a film like this, light-hearted as it may be, depicts the female sex as air-headed and vacuous.

I’m not trying to be a trendy feminist guy here, it simply amazes me that this might get any box office at all. I thought society was past using clumsy stereotypes as a lazy base for humour.

I may as well say that all girls from Essex are easy lays or all guys from Manchester act like Liam Gallagher.

Ok rant over.
