Sex, Drugs and…Boots
I did what I usually do on a Sunday morning I check out the papers but not in the old fashioned way I view them electronically online.
As I brought up the Daily Mail the headline which caught my eye was “Sex Toys For Sale At Boots” and my immediate reaction before reading the report was one of delight that Boots had broken the mould and took the brave step of selling adult toys.
It’s been a long time coming (forgive the pun. Lol) why should sex toy sales be restricted to adult stores? After all from what I could see in the images these products could quite easily have been retailed under the heading of “Massagers” because the store has opted for a line of products which aren’t phallic in shape at all.
I was also amazed at some of the statements in the report including this one
“Families said they were ‘shocked’ and ‘disgusted’ that the sex aids were on show, removed from packaging. By contrast, the Ann Summers sex-shop chain serves boxed sex aids only to those aged 18 or over in designated separate sections of its stores.”
If they had actually visited the rear of the Ann Summers store, as I have many times they would realise that the store has various sex toys out on display for people to handle and that their packaging is frequently transparent so you can clearly see the item within. Lol
Sales of adult toys have been launched in 1,200 of Boots stores and I hope they continue to increase this number in the future. Let’s make the purchasing and use of adult toys acceptable and not something to be ashamed of.
