Cheating With Ashley Madison
I had never heard of Ashley Madison until today, I suppose it is because it was founded in Canada by Noel Biderman in 2001 and hasn’t quite hit these shores yet.
The best explanation for what they do for the uninitiated is give via the company’s motto “Life is short, have an affair”. As I understand it the company offer email and instant messaging services to other like minded individuals who don’t want to leave a trace of their activities on their home PC’s.
Ashley Madison are claiming that since the recession hit their subscriptions have increased with the number of members increasing from 1 million to 3.6 million in the last 12 months.
I’m not sure of the validity of this but Mr Biderman claims that “many couples who would otherwise have divorced were seeking affairs at the moment because of the cost of hiring lawyers and the difficulty of selling the marital home”.
What I do know is that Mr Biderman is coining it in, charging £33 for 100 credits which can be used to purchase instant messaging minutes at the rate of 50 credits for 60 minutes or 10 emails to different users.
How I wish I had come up with this idea.
