Cock In The Countryside

Cock PheasantTo finish off the Bank Holiday weekend and help us to forget it’s back to work next weekend, we made a trip to our favourite country pub for lunch. The food there is great and there is plenty of it.

As forecast the weather has turned dull and showery but I suppose that’s a good thing, I don’t like returning to the grind when the sun is shining and you just want to be at home.

Spring is certainly in the air we passed field after field with new life in it, small pairs of lambs with their mothers and calves who look so leggy. And lets not forget the walkers all out with their matching cagoules and ski poles. Why are they all using ski poles these days?

Then I spotted my first pheasant with his richly coloured plumage and immediately checked the field for the lady pheasant. Not one in sight. I spotted another male at which point I said to Alex “Are there more male pheasants than female?” And he came back with this whitty reply “You mean are there more cocks”.

I laughed acknowledging that he was right and upon seeing the next pheasant I shouted “COCK!” and more “COCK!”

I’m so base. lol
